Gene Mak is the co-founder of MilVet Angels, a syndicate of military veterans, public service leaders, and philanthropists investing in private technology companies across America. Following the 9/11 attacks, he joined the military and served for over 10 years as a U.S. Navy SEAL, with combat deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Southeast Asia. Post military, he was an operations executive for various integrated resort projects domestically and internationally, where he was responsible for starting and scaling teams focused on risk management, investigations, and compliance. His entrepreneurial pursuits include starting a security consulting firm, leading operations at a defense technology startup, and founding a tech/event space in the Bay Area. Gene received his BA in International Economics from UCLA and MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management. In his spare time, Gene enjoys backpacking, international travel, and playing soccer with his wife and son.
